Does it sometimes hit you? This thing looks just like something else!
That spot on the bathroom door at work that you’ve been staring at for months and months looks like a sleeping cat!!! Ok, so you spend a lot of time on the Throne… Happens to the best of us.
And that crack on the wall bears an uncanny resemblance to your mother-in-laws crooked nose!!!! Oh, oh, and the coffee-stain on your desk, yes, that one, looks like… mmm… allright, let’s not go there.
Don’t you just love it when something like that pops into your head and the most ordinary things never look the same? Some of them you can even doodle into perfection:

Not the bathroom floor, I just read toilet paper wrappers (Did you know “Soft and Gentle” doesn’t have anything to do with the paper–really–read it). I did, however stare at patterns in people’s clothing while sitting in church (kind of like Galileo and his lamp). I would try to figure out the repeat. I read a book on textile printing when I was much older and found out I was right. Obsession, go figure.

You would probably enjoy my friends site, the art style is right up your alley.

November 26, 2007 @ 1:27 pmHi Donna,
I am afraid to ask what’s “soft and gentle” really referring to

November 26, 2007 @ 2:13 pmI read all kinds of crap too, I used to read packaging labels while having breakfast when I was a kid (because my parents wouldn’t let me read something more substantial at the table ;-)) But I really do “see things” in all kinds of stains and cracks. Bad habit… or creative exercise, depending on how you spin it
Hi Joe,
November 26, 2007 @ 2:29 pmWe figured that there are many more doodling freaks like our -humble-selves
Your friend is amazing, and I do like his style a lot. Hopefully one of these days you’ll share some of your stuff with our appreciative audience. And perhaps even convince Steve to do the same!
Years ago a group of us were sharing a hotel room in Africa and we were staring up at the stains on the canvas ceiling trying to see shapes - as you do. The best one was Dolly Parton’s boobs.
December 1, 2007 @ 11:40 pmHi Ed,
I’m not gonna ask how exactly you designated the ceiling boobs to be Dolly’s

December 3, 2007 @ 10:43 amBut that’s exactly what I’m talking about. All the stains look like something, if you look at them long enough
This is by far the coolest thing that I have seen on an envelope in a long time.
December 7, 2007 @ 10:32 amHi Mouseclone,
Yeah, they’re usually pretty plain, and very likely contain a very uncool bill inside
