Ok, so I am a self-proclaimed paper-obsessed freak. I collect papers. In our house, papers can be found in many unexpected places. Yes, bathroom is one of them, but that’s not the point.
Blank sheets of paper are a bit intimidating, but still intriguing. If the paper is shiny and smooth, you can imagine how a nice extra fine pen would glide on it, creating lines, swirls and dashes that would eventually fall into place and create a new image. Rough, uneven paper is inviting something soft, like pencil or piece of charcoal to leave a bold mark. You can play with light and shadow, enjoying the little patterns revealed by tiny pieces of graphite your trusty weapon of choice drawing companion is leaving on the surface. Fancy imprinted rice papers with patterns of flowers and intricate geometrical figures practically beg to be cut into little pieces and pasted onto a collage. Oh, the possibilities…
Of course at the end, we ignore all the fancy-pretty papers in lue of a shred of a newspaper or a dingy page ripped out of the notebook… Another mystery of life. I’ve even seen entire webpages made out of those scraps!
This one here, is a rare exception. So fly, Hairy-Legged Swirly-Eyed Birdie, fly (if you can… I’m afraid I went a little too easy on the wings here…)

Truly, a wondrous creation. I think you’re right about the wings. Plus the hairy legs give me a way to CONNECT with the ART (as they say at snooty art galleries) since mine go unshaven during the winter months.
January 9, 2008 @ 4:04 pmI should have that tattooed somewhere on my body. I’m with Karen. I feel the art-mostly because of the leg stubble.
January 10, 2008 @ 6:41 amHello, Karen and Beth!
January 10, 2008 @ 10:43 amYou girls crack me up, LOL!!!!
Curiously, you both have frogs for avatars. Stay tuned, I have a pretty neat frog picture stashed for a future post. You’ll like it!
Put those frog pictures up! I could use inspiration for a new frog tattoo when I become employed and have the ability to pay for a tat. Seriously. I’d even have your name written beneath it as a copyright.
January 10, 2008 @ 10:41 pmBeth,
Will do. One frog picture coming up
January 11, 2008 @ 12:43 pmp.s. No bodily copyrighting required. A photo would be nice though.
