just monkeying around…

Swirls, spirals, twirly-thingamajigs. No matter how you call them - they’re some of my main doodling obsessions. See, other people may be perfectly happy with nice and smooth straight lines, but not me. I need my swirls. My lines have to turn and turn around until they stop in the middle of the cozy tight cocoon of a swirl.

This Spiral Galery is an awesome sourse of inspiration:

Klimt, aka The GOD of Swirls is one of my favorite artists:

And of course, wonderful Flickr provides an endless pool of swirly magic in it’s groups or individual photos/drawings:

Pretty! Are those first examples some of your swirl doodles? They remind me of the Mexico rocks, so I’m guessing they are :) I love the textures you create with the lines!

    Hi LaurenMarie,

You’ve guessed right :) I looked through some of my drawings and picked details with swirls (of which there were a ton, as I said, it’s one of my “signature” doodling moves ;)
    Thanks for the compliments.
p.s. I’ll try to answer your interview questions tonight. I’m your colleague in “real life” ;)

Oh yes, doodling has to be curly. Curls and eyes. And tears. And in my case, apparenly, calenders. You’ve inspired me to put some of my doodles on my blog:
