That’s right, I’m going away. So, while I’m gone, I want you to do at least 1 thing. Remember, I wrote about the group of extraordinary doodlers from around the world who were having some good time doodling for an honor of being called the best doodler? Well, YOU can be one of them pretty soon!
Go over to The Doodle Off blog and subscribe. If you’re feeling brave, try to enter the competition yourself. Think, ARE YOU A DOODLER ENOUGH? If the answer is yes, join me and other adventurous doodlers in the 2 month long (did I mention it’s not for WIMPS?) doodling marathon which will run from May 1 through July 1 or whenever somebody manages to come up with 150 doodles (10 of which must be on different materials other than paper). See contest rules & more details here.

Besides me, doodling for profit fun and fame, DOODLAGE will be “hosting” the event, meaning, we’ll be in charge of posting “best of the week”, distributing the prizes and all that good stuff. Please, spread the word about the DOODLE-OFF, link to it from your blogs and make as much virtual noise as you can, as we, IRON DOODLERS like to do our magic in public ;)
SO, get scribling (practice makes perfect, huh ;)) and let the best wo man DOODLER win.
As I said, I’m off for a week, don’t miss me too much, my little darlings :)

You should know by now that I see doodles in all kinds of things, including my finds on Etsy. Today, I decided to treat you to all kinds of swirls, curls and swooshes that look plenty doodly to me, even though they’re for the most part jewelry and made of… metallic wire.
Doodlicious wire bookmarks, necklaces & earrings by ialuna:

Swirly silver jewelry by SimplySilver1:

Creative wire necklaces by my Etsy-friend CreationsByJess (I just wish the girl took better pictures, ’cause I own 3 of her pieces and these photos don’t do them any justice!):

Ever thought of the Postcards that you may (or may NOT) send to somebody? Unanswered love interest? Bratty “friend”? Annoying relatives? Yourself? Well, guess what? Andre Jordan is doing IT for you! His minimalistic, bitter-funny postcards (which started as therapy for his own personal problems) are a huge hit! Some were published by Urban Graphics:

…and lots of them you can find in Andre’s blog, A Beautiful Revolution:

Doodlage wholeheartedly agrees. They are sooooooooo beautiful… in a creepy miserable and painfully hilarious way. Enjoy!

In the Obsessive Consumer’s (aka Kate Bingaman-Burt) own words, this is how it works:
Every month a new zine comes out filled with daily drawings of crud that I buy. You can buy the zine! So, the cycle of buying keeps going!!

In her free (from consumption, that is) time, Kate works as an Assistant Professor of Graphic Design at Portland State University. She also is the founding partner of the Public Design Center.

Recycling+art at it’s best. Very talented Kim @ circlesareforever shop on Etsy enjoys hand painting on bottle caps and transforming them into trinkets and jewelry:

Besides cute jewelry, Kim’s adorable designs turn junk into very creative and usable Thumb Tucks, Magnets and Buttons:

And you have to admit, you can’t stop smiling while looking at these cuties :)

This Box Doodle Project has made it’s honor rounds around the web recently, but I decided to feature it anyways, cause I like it so much. Doodling, art, recycling, cool designs, all in one… box. Or should I say ON the box? Artists from around the globe “went to town” on these boxy creations and the results are very interesting to look at. Some are 3D and others are completely flat. Some make use of the original box’s shape while others just use the surface as if it were a plain piece of paper. Makes me want to go dig out some used packaging and grab a trusty sharpie myself ;)

The project is a “baby” of the Munich based artist and art director David Hofmann. The rules are quite simple: rearrange a box to make any kind of figure or object. Make the most of least. Anyone can participate, just doodle+photograph+send your entry in (there’s a link for entries on boxdoodle.com).

But wait, there’s more!!! You can digi-doodle on a virtual box and send in a screen shot of the results. Just use the interactive Box Doodle Tool

In any case, it’s definitely worth getting lost in this boxy creative landscape. Page after page, after page of raw creativity. Enjoy :)
